Hello!
I assume you're here because you (or someone in your life) loves flowers. Well, I'm proud to say that I grow some of the loveliest flowers you'll ever see, and I do so with minimal (if any!) harmful chemicals and with lots of old-fashioned hard work.
My farm is small--less than 1/4 acre small--but you'd be surprised to see what you can do in that kind of space. I have plenty of more room to grow in, but it's just me. I'm the farm. I don't have any tractors, either. I use shovels, and hoes, and my teenage son uses a shovel when I pay him, and that's how we get it done. Of course, I'm lucky to have a husband who is supportive and does whatever needs to be done without complaining. I truly don't think he's complained about the work once. Now, he complains about the dirt in our basement, but that's a whole other story (and justified).
I think I'm lucky that I grew up on a farm surrounded my farms. I feel blessed that my mama took the time to show me around our yard and teach me the name of the flowers growing in our yard. I love to grow things. It very much reminds me of nurturing and growing a child...crazy, but true.
I was a high school English teacher in my former life, and teaching runs deep in my veins. Unfortunately, rheumatoid arthritis also runs deep in my body, and at times it has a good grip on my life. I refuse to let it win, though, and after 20 plus years of it, I've learned some tricks to work around it. (It involves sleep, lots of sleep.) Nurturing little seeds into glorious flowers is an incredible miracle to me, but it's really no different than watching an infant learn to walk or a kindergartener learn to read. It's all pretty incredible to me.
It's my joy to grow flowers and nurture them from tiny seeds into gorgeous blooms that bring happiness and peace into others' lives. Thank you for taking the time to stop by, and I hope to grace your life with some of my beautiful flowers this year.
